About Us

Walter Translations is a Canadian-based company/sole proprietorship, located in Edmonton, Alberta. It was established in 2024 by Stanley Walter, an Associate Member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta. Stanley holds a Bachelor of Education degree in English as a Foreign Language and Arts (Fine Arts and Art History). This degree encompassed coursework in translation. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in North American Studies (English language, literature, and culture). Both degrees were completed at Technische Universität Dresden (Technical University of Dresden) in Germany.

Born and raised in Germany, Stanley moved to Canada in 2016 as part of an internship exchange program that existed between the Province of Alberta, Canada, and the Free State of Saxony, Germany. Stanley has worked in different roles and capacities in Canada and Germany and can offer expertise and experience in a number of different fields.

Land Acknowledgement ᑕᑕᐘº

We acknowledge that our main office is located in Treaty Six Territory. These are the traditional lands and gathering place of many indigenous peoples, including the Nehiyaw (Cree), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Iroqouis, Denesuliné (Dene), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Métis, and many others. As newcomers to Canada, we honour and respect the history, languages, ceremonies, and cultures of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who call this territory home and whose presence continues to influence and enrich this vibrant community. To acknowledge the ancestral lands and indigenous peoples is to recognize their longer history, reaching far beyond colonization.

The indigenous peoples have always welcomed newcomers to their ancestral lands in the spirit of ᑕᑕᐘº (ta-tawâw), Nêhiyawêwin for: There is room. You are welcome. As fostering of intercultural connections through language is central to our organization, we commit to upholding this spirit.

Being founded and led by a transsexual man and member of the 2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex and all other gender identities and sexualities community itself, our organization believes that everyone should be free to be who they are and love who they love.

As such, we do not tolerate discriminatory behaviour of any kind toward members of our organization or our clients and their customers and reserve the right to refuse or cancel service.
